We are creating a series of performances and workshops around the concept of hole. Hole is a framework of thought that uses cultural references, myths, geographies and topographies as an emancipatory gesture. Some ways of understanding hole are: desire, absence, the political-ideological, revolution, ecology, liberation, queerness, imprisonment (and prison as a space), transformation, penetration, tension, extraction, connection (tunneling), but not only. Our idea of Hole came to us from a reading of Oscar Wilde’s Salome. Her desire and obsession for John the Baptist, manifested through the hole of the cistern, offered us Hole as a tool of exploration.
The performance setting makes use of movement, sound, embodied vocal practices, speeches and texts, in a space that is mutable and in flux.

We want to find out how far we can bring our concept of the hole in the public space: where can this idea take us, and how will it develop as the project unfolds? What alternative forms of knowledge production exist and can be played with? We want to experiment with creating different formats to see in which ways knowledge(s) can be produced and transmitted.
We also want to try out creating spaces in which the audience or attendees can feel open to explore their own relationship to the hole (in it’s many forms and meaning). We want to see how the performative setting can leak into to reality.
